Nail High Technology

Beauty products that include fancy gems and minerals are all the rage right now. They can range from lipsticks and body shimmers to nail products. In particular, diamond dust in nail polish and on nail files offer many advantages to regular nail products. It's not just the added sparkle to colors that sell these premium nail products. It's also about the inherent characteristics of diamond dust that make it an ideal ingredient in fine nail cosmetics products.

Putting Technology Into Beauty

It's obvious from the many industrial uses of diamonds, that they make great grinding wheels. They are used to cut through tough materials that other substances can't handle. The reason they make such great grinding stones is because they don't wear down as easily, since diamond is a very hard substance. Understanding the reasons why industries around the world use the precious gemstone for these purposes, it's not too far a stretch to put it on nail files too. In fact, the higher priced and longer lasting nail files use diamond dust to achieve the same effect on a simple beauty tool. They cost more money, but they are worth more as they can file very effectively and last a very, very, long time.

Adding Sparkle And Longevity

Along with the enduring quality of diamond dust, it also adds sparkle and shimmer to anything that includes it as an ingredient. The next logical step in creating nail beauty products is to add diamond dust to nail polish, where the sparkle adds shimmer to a variety of colors. The hardness of the diamond dust also makes the polish longer wearing than products that don't include diamond dust. The same properties that make diamonds ideal for grinding saws also help to protect nail enamel from chipping and breaking. This can strengthen your manicures and make them top notch!

Gossip Girl duo Blake Lively and Leighton Meester grace the latest cover of Rolling Stone magazine intimately sharing an ice cream. The sugar rush photo shoot of these best friends slash rivals Serena and Blair have made a gossip frenzy among its fans - including me!

The Gossip Girl Gang - Nate, Serena, Jenny, Dan, Vanessa, Chuck, and Blair - posed for a sexy photoshoot under the sheets.

The BFFs shots were steamy yet fun. By the way, I like Blair's messed up tresses. It's different seeing her in GG when she's all primp and proper - including her hair.

"When I saw all the props, I wasn't sure what he was going for, but I'm sure it'll be fun," Ed Westwick told Rolling Stone.

The cast after a full-on pillow fight. I'm loving Blair's geometric dress which is believed to be a Jean Paul Galtier design.

Tamera Marie Szijarto, former titleholder of Miss Philippines and a 25-year old computer engineer, proved herself to be more than just a beautiful face as she embarks into a new business in line with the world of beauty she's in.

Last May 2008, Tamera or Tam launched her online cosmetics business - Tamera Online. It claims to be the first and only online cosmetics store in the Philippines.

TameraOnline.com offers popular international brands that are not available here in the Philippines. Brands include Benefit, Neutrogena, Physicians Formula, and Smashbox. More renowned cosmetic brands will be added in the future such as Givenchy, Dior, La Mer, Estee Lauder, Mac, Nars, etc. - at a lower price compared to prices offered in Philippine department stores.

Online shopping for starters are confusing but after two or three transactions it will be just as simple as buying in brick and mortar stores. Included in the website are full descriptions so you wouldn't end up being clueless about the product you're planning to buy.

Payment options are through Paypal, Credit Cards, Check or Money Order / Bank Deposits and Transfers, and G-Cash.

I scored this Neutrogena 3 in 1 Concealer for Eyes as a freebie at the TameraOnline Exclusive Tea Party last February 21, 2009.

Philippine Fashion Week 2008 unveiled Bayo's Spring / Summer Collection 2009. Dominant elements are colors gray & purple, stripes and plaids, stockings and black shoes, and scarves. Stylish yet classic!

Bayo, as a Filipino retailer, is proud of achieving loyalty from the Filipino people. Bayo tries to revolve around the different facets of a Filipina and how she evolves with time, but at the same time still maintaining her distinct cultural attributes.

FYI, "Bayo" is an Ilonggo term which means, “dress” in English. The owners of the clothing line are from Bacolod.

Lady Gaga wore this bubblicious dress in her concert tour last March 12, 2009 at the House of Blues, San Diego, California. This bubble wrap outfit would seem ridiculous when worn in the streets of New York but wearing this in her own concert gave an impression that the event was hers and hers alone.

Nobody "popped her bubble!"

Hussein Chalayan's popular dress is made of actual plastic bubbles. I wonder how does it feel to get encased in this dress. I'd rather pick the traditional bubble dresses.

Cover ups, beach frocks, sarongs - your summer adventure at the beach won't be complete without them. It feels good to expose your toned body but for long hours of sizzling heat under the sun I'm sure you'll grab something to cover you up.

Reasons to cover up:
  1. Health: Basically to minimize the risk of having skin cancer. Sorry for sun-worshippers out there.

  2. Beauty: Too much sun exposure causes painful sunburns and damages our skin cells which can lead to faster skin aging. A cover up offers low yet effective sun protection.

  3. Style: Surely you wouldn't be walking around all day only with your swimsuit. You need a cover up for an added style factor.

  4. Function: Cover up after getting out of the water so you won't get chilly.. You can just put it on or take it off without having to worry changing in public.. If you need a little modesty, a cover up can be of great help..

A wide selection of cover ups are available today. Kaftans and tunics are in the zone since last year. Nicole Richie, Paris Hilton, and Lindsay Lohan were spotted wearing them. Even Blake Lively appeared in one Gossip Girl episode wearing one. This means "sarong days are over, kaftans rule!". But who cares? There are still a wide variety of beachwear you can choose from and that includes summer dresses, sarongs, separate skirts and tank tops.

Summer cover up tips:
  • Kaftans and tunics usually have longer sleeves so they cover up flabby arms and problem areas around the hips and midriff.
  • If your legs aren't one of your best assets, wear a long cover up dress or a sarong that extends down to the ankles.
  • See-through cover ups aren't made to fully "cover up" but are there to complement your swimsuit.
  • Cotton is a recommended fabric.
  • For a classic look, get a pairing swimsuit and cover up. For a more trendy style, pair plain swimsuits with printed cover ups or vice versa.
  • Raid your closet for mini summer dresses, tank tops, and loose cotton tops before purchasing a new cover up to save some cash.
